I made this photograph during our UK Photo Tour in June 2013. West Burton is a lovely, quintessential country village in the rolling hills of the Yorkshire Dales. This nature photograph shows a graceful waterfall amid lush greenery. Also known as West Burton Falls, this lovely waterfall is just outside the village of West Burton. The falls are on a stream called Walden Beck, which joins Bishopdale Beck and eventually the River Ure. Available in color and black-and-white versions. Multiple streams flow over a sharp drop between two of the myriad lakes within Croatia’s Plitvice Lakes National Park. (Click for larger image) I made this image during a day trip to the park with my wife Ruth. We explored a significant portion of the park, but serious photography was extremely difficult due to the crowds of people everywhere as well as the very sunny weather! Waterfalls very often look their best under cloudy skies, so to make this image I had to wait for a lull in the crowds as well as a cloud over the sun. This national park is absolutely amazing; I’ve never seen any landscape quite like it. It’s got many, many lakes, each formed in a plateau made by seismic activity and erosion. In between each of the lakes is a waterfall. You can see a lot more photos and learn about the park here and here.
