New Travel Photograph: View Over Haga, Gothenburg, Sweden

Haga, Gothenburg, Sweden Photograph by Nat CoalsonHaga is Gothenburg, Sweden’s oldest neighborhood, known for its picturesque wooden houses. It was once the poorest section of the city but underwent major renovations in the 1980s and is now a favourite area for tourists and Gothenburgers alike. To make this image I climbed to the top of a large hill in the center of the city. I worked up the composition using the “frame-in-frame” technique with the tree over the top of the main part of the photo. I used a polarizer to remove reflections from the roofs and deepen the color saturation in the sky and throughout the image. Great depth of field was needed to get the tree and the distant buildings in focus; I used f/16 at 1/50 second. Click the image for a larger version.
