Puffy, white clouds glide over the parched landscape, creating dramatic shadows on the massive, eroded sandstone cliffs at Blue Mesa Reservoir near Gunnison, Colorado.
I made this photograph during a wonderful road trip Ruth and I made with my parents during October 2013.
Leaving from Denver, we traveled southwest through the Colorado Rockies, staying in Crested Butte and Ouray along the way. Following a day exploring and shopping in Durango, Colorado, we drove into northern New Mexico, where we stayed overnight in Farmington. Early the next morning we visited one of my favorite Native American historic sites – Aztec Ruin. We finished our trip staying in Albuquerque and Santa Fe for six nights before driving home to Colorado.
This is the first image I’ve posted from this trip; stay tuned for many more coming soon!
